A police officer shot an aggressive pit bull to death in Brooklyn, authorities said.

The incident happened when the officer and his partner showed up to an apartment on the 10th floor of a building on Plaza Street in Prospect Heights on Sunday morning looking for a suspect from an earlier crime, officials said.

When someone inside the apartment opened the door, the dog charged the cops, forcing one to draw his weapon and fire five shots at the animal, killing it.

A cab driver called police because a man who lived in the apartment skipped out on a fare, officials said. The hack brought the man home from The Bronx around 4 a.m., but the fare said he was out of cash, so he left his wallet with the driver promising to return with money, police said.

This exactly. I'm tired of the dumbases saying they are born killers and aggressive. They are no more or less dangerous than a Golden Retriever, which can be raised and trained to be an attack dog just as well as a Pit can.

It sucks that cops are so trigger happy but the dog would end up pretty injured if the police tried to fend it off without killing. That'd be pretty inhumane to pepper spray or taser the dog.


**Note, I don't actually know any humane ways unless you bring a catch pole or whatever.

They have no idea if the dog posed a threat, what dogs don't see a person and approach them, often running, just to say hello and get a pet on the head? The dog did nothing violently that any other dog wouldn't do.

I get home from work, my dog runs to the door to greet me. I visit friends, family, guess what? The dog runs at me as soon as I get there solely just to get attention and check out who you are, with their tail wagging ferociously. It's kind of what dogs do.

The problem with pitbulls is that you never know when they're going to attack. And they can seem friendly for years which will cause to let your guard down. But then, one day you do something that annoys it (maybe even as inconsequential as bumping into it) when it's eating or trying to sleep and then it snaps and tries to kill you.

That is a myth if I've ever seen one. There are always signs when your dog is starting to get aggressive and there is always a way to counter it. The problem is that a lot of owners aren't catching the signs until it is too late (as in the dog has already bit someone).

The only species of dog this has ever been linked to is a Chow. It developed into Pitbull over the years due to reputation alone. Chows actually have a species specific wiring in their brain that makes them snap on children and their owners at any given time unprovoked.

I feel bad for the dog, but what would you do in that situation? If I had a gun on me and a pitbull charged me (which we're supposed to believe happened, so let's say it did) - you can bet your ass that dog is going down.
