Look into other methods before settling for something permanent. IUD is fairly easy to maintain and you basically have to do nothing. Also a lot of doctors might reject you because they don't like doing that surgery to young people (at least here in Mexico).

I don't want kids for similar reasons and at 28 I've yet to feel the desire to. It is your body and your choice what you want to do, but you will likely change as a person in a decade as most people figure out who they are in their 20's. Today you might be an immature child who wants this or that but in 10 years you will likely have gone through life changing experiences. If your sure you want your tubes tied then go for it, but for whatever reason in 10 years or less you change your mind it will not matter as you made your choice at 18. If you do regret your decision later then it will just be too late, the choice was made long ago. If your sure do as you wish, but even if you think for a second you could want your own kids wait 5 years and think about it some more.
