And explicitly state that it was his dad's company and make multiple references to his dad

Sorry that I apparently didn't make it clear that it's a super pedantic difference when it was obviously meant to be the important Lex Luthor so saying "WELL IT WASN'T THE REAL LUTHOR" to defend the performance is just some dumb shit to say.

When the only complaint is he doesn't act like this other version of a fictional character is already pedantic to begin with.

And made him the CE of a company called LexCorp.

I only remember that one reference to his dad and even that never made it explicit that Eisenberg was Lex Jr.

Yeah, I think we can safely assume that Lex had a father too.

It's a valid complaint. You hear Lex Luthor is going to be in the movie, you're expecting a certain type of character. If that character is good anyway, people will accept it (TDK's Joker). If it's not, people won't.

So what you're saying is that it's not really a valid complaint and you just didn't like Eisenberg's Performance.

Eisenberg's Lex Luthor is literally everything Lex Luthor is not.

What makes him a fascinating character is that Lex has EVERYTHING going for him. He's filthy rich, the owner of his own company, insanely attractive (even despite being bald), powerful, charismatic, suave, sophisticated, extremely intelligent and the public loves him. But he's obsessed with Superman because Superman also has all of those traits, except Superman got them for free. He's so unbelievably petty, so jealous of Superman even though he has no real reason to be outside of his own ego.

But BvS turned him into a socially awkward shut-in that seems to irritate almost everybody including the audience. He's not the least bit likable even without accounting for his grudge against Superman. And it doesn't help that Superman himself doesn't have the charm or charisma in BvS that makes their dynamic particularly interesting

Uhh, ok. I guess you fell asleep during the part where Lex Luthor goes on a rant about hating Superman for the exact same reason you described?

That's the most valid complaint of all. He turned a mediocre movie into a trainwreck.

Only if you're a pedantic nerd. To everyone else Eisenberg still plays an evil genius who can't accept superman as always being good with all the power he has

Wow, so you obviously completely missed the point of my post.

I never said that that wasn't in the movie. Just that it's a moot point and misses all of the complexity of the character when you just boil him down to "Socially awkward guy is jealous of the cool jock that only half of the world likes".

You seriously don't get it TDK joker was still playing the character people know but in a darker and somewhat different take to fit into a realistic world. The preformance is loved because the actor was making it his own and being true to the character.

Bitch boy Luthor is NOTHING like the character he is suppose to be portraying, a horrible preformance by a horribly mis casted actor.

TDK Joker was scary as fuck, didn't give a shit about who died or why he just like causing chaos, and even said so in the film, that is an example of a great portrayal.

I think if you take away the suave, sophisticated and successful part of Luthor, he become an entirely different character. You might as well use a different character. Part of what makes the character is that he has everything going for him, but in a sick twist of irony, is so blinded by his hatred of Superman to realize it. It creates a little undercurrent to his performance and make him more than your old standard generic vision. I mean, this is a character who literally became president at some point.

The whole "complaining about a character's adaptation is pedantic" argument is bullshit too. If I created a religious work of fiction where Jesus was a ripped, Roman soldier who promoted glory and the spartan way, you'd be left wondering why in the hell I made the character Jesus in the first place.
