Fear mongering through popular movies is usually effective to sway popular opinion despite the lack of realistic ways to do what the movies do.

F8te of the furious spoilers they hack every self driving car in New York city to cause a massive traffic accident

Maybe Elon Musk can fund a movie called slow and serious starring Micheal Cera as he has his tesla safely drive him to work.

It sucks for me to ride in a car w/o driving it. Like idk what it is. Just sitting there sucks and is boring. I need to be driving. Like I've really noticed on trips the difference between being the driver or a passenger and how much it sucks.

Keep self driving cars off the road, they are not the answer to traffic or safer roads.

Don't allow this bs to succeed, driving is something that should not be left to a machine.

I dunno they should probably pass a law banning horses first.

I'm sure there's such a law in some places but it's still perfectly fine in plenty of places, though of course subject to relevant traffic laws with a few extra regulations.

The machines may not make mistakes... but who builds the machines?

If the machines follow the programming, and the programming has errors; what happens? They do not make 'mistakes' but mistakes will happen.

the machines may not make 'mistakes' but the machines sure do break and when those things break, you need a person to be in control.

And auto driving cars still have issues with bad weather, both in their ability to control in it but also their ability to 'read' the road.

I dont think you understand my point.

Mistakes will be made by humans even with self driving cars as they are programmed and built by humans. Instead of placing each individual at the 'risk' of making a mistake, you put the risk on the designers, etc.

Stop lights are the only thing there that affects most people's lives daily, and I'd be willing to bet that the technology for operating a stop light is much simpler than the technology for operating a self-driving car. Elevator fear is a legit thing some people have and they choose to take the stairs instead.
