Honestly, I usually just wash the pillow case and spray the pillow down with Lysol. Does that make me a disgusting person? I remember the first one as a kid and it kind of works the drying part messed mine up and it smells like the detergent you bought. With my pillow I stuck it straight into the washing machine. I'm assuming your pillow is made from cotton otherwise don't do this, and stick it in the dryer on medium heat.
