Saw they are making a show based off them and I read good things about them. They good...? Or is it child-hood nostalgia?

Oh... No idea. Just saw they were released in 93 so I thought maybe a lot of it came from when people were kids.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Wheel_of_Time

Hope you're in for a lot of reading.

On topic though, Wheel of Time is my favorite fantasy novel series by a large degree. I started reading it when I was about 12 years old, and once I finally caught up the series when I was in highschool, I bought every book of it that came out in hardcover.

After I moved when I didnt have enough space in my truck to take all of my books, I bought the entire series again on kindle. I make a point of reading through the entire thing once a year.

The ending is amazing, and don't worry about the author having to change for the last three books due to the death of the original writer. Robert Jordan's wife still held complete control over the franchise, which means the new author (Brandon Sanderson) had to run his drafts by her and get them approved before sending them off for publishing. Also the end of the series was in fact written out fully by Robert Jordan before he died, so you know it's true to his vision of the novels.

I love this series, and can talk about it with someone for hours. I also own the Dungeons and Dragons adaptation for the series (up to book 7) that is also really well made, although it has a few errors you won't even notice unless you're a WoT turbonerd like I am.

Easily just as good of a story as Lord of the Rings.

90% filler

Have you read the series? There's very little that goes on in the books that isnt meaningful in some way.

So you read less than 25% of the total series then.

Well, if it were a game instead of a book series, you'd get shit on for "not giving it a chance" just FYI. Some of the "filler" scenes in the earlier books actually are referenced later on and their significance is revealed.

You mean rather bitchy? That's just Nynaeve and it actually serves as a crucial character development point for her later. Not sure if you got that far.

Egwene becomes a major badass, So does Elayne. though I do have to say my favorite female character in the series is Moiraine by a long shot.

I think I got up to like.. book 13? But been like a decade or something since I read em. I just remember the women not being terribly well written a lot of the time. Or at least Rands posse.

That means you got near the end.

Aside from the women being more minor characters overall than the three main guys (Except Egwene, she's a major character by far) The only character I don't think was well written was Min, but that's mostly because she got the least amount of focus of the major women, aside from Cyndane (you know who I mean). That said though, Min still had major points in the series where she was incredibly important.

I mean there were minor characters like.. Else Grinwell who was in the first book for like, less than a chapter. Even then she was still mentioned again later in the series once. So even the most minor of characters arent left in the dust in this series. Another part that makes me love it.

Hell, one character you think is a minor one from the first boo, a ship captain, actually becomes semi-important after having not even heard of him for several books.

I liked it a good deal with I was younger and it still holds a place in my heart but it does drag on a fair deal with a point where almost nothing important happens for a few books at a time.

I would say something about this, but considering you're on "warned" status, it means you're a shitposter that shouldnt be taken seriously.

His books are good, but I like Jordan's more because he created a world that doesnt rely on the old fantasy tropes from dungeons and dragons.

They tend to ramble a bit in the middle 6-8, but in general was a good read. Jorden is a really good writer. Unlike Goodkind in the Sword of Truth series there isnt really anything thats not explained by the end

Yeah, there's a lot of focus on character and world building in that stage instead of actual events, a lot of the focus shifts away from Rand and to other characters also.
