Like if you ask an atheist to explain gravity and keep on asking why they're going to eventually say "I don't know" and then you "checkmate" them and they get severely rustled.

why?

The better question is why do some people get so rustled at the answer "I don't know" when it's a far more honest answer than "I know it's god"?

Because atheists are intellectuals who play intellectual games like chess, and checkmate implies that they've lost.

That doesn't make any sense. It's not ignorance. It's the unexplainable.

If you offer an answer to a question, and your reason why is that you don't know of any other possible explanation, that is literally an argument from ignorance.

Anybody would get "rustled" when they hear "checkmate" against them because it implies that you beat them at an argument when it usually isn't the case.

Telling them "checkmate" is also far from trying to gain more profound knowledge as well...

How isn't it? Sometimes things just can't be explained. There are dimensions beyond our comprehension and it infeasible to try to gain any understanding of them.

Like I said, telling people "checkmate" is hardly trying to gain more profound knowledge, saying that is more like trying to end a discussion.

Which is why it is unreasonable to make a claim about the thing in the first place.

I don't know doesn't indicate that there's no god though as atheists intend to believe. I'm an agnostic.

Because one of the rules of critical thinking is to be skeptical by default. If there is no evidence of a thing existing, then you are to assume it doesn't exist until evidence is provided.

Correct. And the only thing you need to be in order to be an atheist is to not believe in a deity. This is fundamentally different from the claim that you believe there is no deity.

I'm really glad I'm not agnostic. To not even understand that saying you don't know if there is a god is admitting you don't believe in God, and thus are an atheist without even knowing it.
