I feel like the Quantum Suicide one was written by a dude who watched that episode of Big Bang Theory and thought he had a full understanding of the Schrodinger Cat thought experiment and wanted to try to sound smart.

I personally find the superpredator explanation for the Fermi Paradox to be fairly chilling.

Sixth Mass Extinction
We are currently living through what many scientists and biologists consider to be the sixth mass extinction that the world has ever seen. This is going to be an interesting puzzle for the species that comes after us. It wasn't until the year 1800 that humanity reached a population of 1 billion after thousands and thousands of years. In the 216 years since then, the population has increased to 7.406 billion. That exponential growth has very long lasting, very noticeable negative effects on our planet until we reach carrying capacity or die off.

I didn't know you thought the earth was only a few thousand years old.

i think they mean humans being on earth

Uhh, humans haven't been around since the earth began. The sentence is accurate in a general sense.

I don't think that's a scary theory. Assuming you're talking about an advanced civilization using self-replicating robots for galactic-scale colonization.

It's the "gray goo" disaster. They literally keep replicating till there is nothing left.

Grey goo (also spelled gray goo) is a hypothetical end-of-the-world scenario involving molecular nanotechnology in which out-of-control self-replicating robots consume all biomass on Earth while building more of themselves

The population one actually has merit and is most likely. The Earth is quickly reaching it's carrying capacity.

Probably terror management. Even growing up with religion I always found it's concepts of afterlife, heaven, hell, reincarnation, etc. ridiculous and arrogant of the species. Theres no evidence or concert proof. It's why 99% of humanity fears death despite these assurances we've tried to convince ourselves of.

To think I will cease to exist and be forgotten just like the billions and billions of people before me. That shit is scary and humbling.
