I just passed this one to a friend: Stalingrad- The Fateful Siege by Antony Beever. A must read for students of history, imo.

He was kind of on that wavelength before that happened, but he did seem to get a bit more into meditation and "higher consciousness" stuff afterwards. Haven't seen him much since because I moved away shortly after.

Looks like I should give reading Siddhartha a go.

It's pretty short. I was able to finish it on a plane trip from NY to WA. I thought it was going to be like a biography of Buddha, but he's actually just a more minor character the main character encounters.
