Pretty much. Silence of the Lambs couldn't be made today since it's about a crossdresser who wants to be a woman but was refused surgery due to his mental state.

Pretty much the DSM has become political allowing anyone to get the surgery now though most transsexuals never get the surgery but live as cross dressers.

It used to be like getting gastro by pass surgery to loss weight you'd had to see a clinical psychologist and attend many sessions to see if your mentally fit for the surgery as someone who is fat and gets gastro by-pass could kill themselves if they over eat and they need to make sure the patient has the mentality for this huge change.

Sex change operations the patient has a high suicide rates due to the fact men still won't accept them. The vagina that is made from the surgery you can't have sex with normally and you need a dildo like object to be inserted daily or that space will fill in like a hole for an ear ring.

Funny thing though the tv series Hannibal told every story and more from the movies but Silence of the Lambs

More like cancelled due to disinterest since there's been a lot worse stuff on television besides Archie, whose bigoted rants is kid stuff compared to the likes of Cartman or anything that happens in Always Sunny.

People who ask this question are generally people who haven't watched large amounts of episodes of the show. Archie while out of touch and bigoted when put up against the wall pretty much always made the right choice. Mike while the progressive voice on the show was also shown to be a limousine liberal quite a few times who was completely out of touch with the people he was claiming to be in favor of helping.

The thing that really made the show stand out wasn't Archie and Mike's constant bickering, but the serious issues of the time that it addressed. Rape and victim blaming, women in traditionally men's jobs, infidelity, neighborhood integration, draft dodging. The list goes on.
