Idk how accurate it is because it didnt really changr after my workout. It didnt count what i did on a stationary bike or chest day

Fitbit sucks

Not long ago I was crossing the US border and the agents took me in for secondary inspection. They were super rude to me and it was an awful experience. My fitbit said my heartrate was around 160 throughout the ordeal

Then I got a congratulation message because apparently I walked 10,000 steps while I was being harassed by the customs officers

Use a real heart rate monitor to keep track of what you're doing while working out. Fitbit isn't meant for intense work out tracking.

I'd recommend a chest HR tracker and a blue tooth app to do it. I've used a wahoo tickr and their app that just uploads the info to my other app like myfitnesspal and strava to keep track of metrics like distance, speed, and HR. It also gives a way more accurate caloric burn count than what fitbit gives.

If you're that concerned about the exact calories you may want to use power meter pedals to figure out how many kilojoules you're expending biking which conveniently is about 1:1 for calories burned 1 kJ is 1 calorie (about >_______>). Heart rate is second to power for measuring caloric burn and finally, distance and time is the worst but you've got something at least to keep track of how many calories you've burned.

idk how accurate it is, but I remember reading about a guy who wore like 5 different fitbit-like devices from different brands (one of them was the fitbit) and none of them were close to each other in terms of what they reported.

So either fitbit is the only accurate one, or they are all just nonsense.

None of these monitoring devices accurately track stationary cardio or lifting worth a shit. I did a 2 hour lift and the one I was trying out said I burned like 30 calories.

Wearing it on your wrist is less accurate than clipping it to your belt...on your wrist it just counts arm movement as a step. I work with someone who wears one and while she's walking around she'll make exaggerated arm movements to bring the count higher.

You gotta question the logic of somebody who not only pays for a device that makes you do stuff you don't want but then cheats at the thing they paid for it to make them do.

I wear one myself but I always do my steps... or almost always at least.

9K steps is not 3K calories on its own. I walk ~20K steps (~10 miles) a day very often and that's only about 800 calories.

I walked about 4 miles consecutively to deliver a package and I was like let's see how many calories this burns, put on my HR strap on, walked and burned 100 calories. It was the saddest freaking day ever. In fact let's find it again.

Anyone that says walking burns plenty of calories is a liar. Even if I were to walk 10 miles I'd burn 300 calories. That's horrendous. Whenever someone tells me they walk to exercise I tell them every single time, walking is what we're made to do, and so it's as efficient as possible for your body to do and burns the least amount of calories. I was even walking up some minor hills which got my HR pumping.

Although TO BE FAIR, I was pretty healthy at the time with a base resting HR of 50 from my year long bike and running training, so walking doesn't strain my heart as it might for other people (especially when you factor in obese people).

If walking gets your HR to be in the 120's+ you can actually burn reasonable amounts of calories doing it. Only if it gets your heart pumping is it worth it in terms of calories. So walking may be good, but you eventually reach a point where you're so conditioned by walking that it does nothing for you to burn calories.

Well it depends on how much you weigh.

If you weigh 1000 pounds, walking 100 steps would burn some serious calories.

It would also break your legs but you know... if you could.
