Kind of not digging playing as 9S (early playthrough B spoilers)

Also the map is crap and the game is either too easy (normal/hard) or too hard (very hard). I wish there was a middle ground, but I'm playing for the experience so hard will have to do. On the bright side I found a fix on the Steam forums that fixed my wonky frame-rates. Turns out the game has bad frame-pacing (haven't heard of it before) but by limiting the FPS in a program it also limits the frames refresh rate. I only tested it for about 5 minutes but it did feel much smoother. Will do more when I wake up.

Without it the game axtually renders at 900p (ps4 resolution) and upscale it to our monitor resolution (be it 1080, 1440 or 4k

I only finished the first play trough and I wasn't that impressed. Some good music and bosses, decent combat.

Wasn't that impressed with the story, it was kind off dull, does the story get better after? No spoilers.

AMD cards have white screen issues, nVidia cards sometimes get a frozen screen
game is actually rendered at 900p and then upscaled to 1080 so its blurry (although there's already a simple community fix for this)

There's a demo that contains the entire prologue section you can try out to see if the combat is okay with you. It won't feature any of the more open areas of the game, but it does demonstrate the perspective switches rather well. It sometimes moves between bullet hell to hack-and-slash, to side-scrolling which I found rather interesting.

gameplay is pretty much standard quest-based RPG, combat is standard platinum but simplified (so combos aren't really a thing)

also there are quite a few side-scrolling/top-down shooter sections

i'm only a few hours in, but i know the first nier was worth playing despite gameplay deficiencies because the story/writing/"soul" was so good; dunno how this one will shape up but the gameplay is a noticeable improvement

this multiple playthrough nonsense really hurts the pacing of the game imo

i'm nearing the end of the second playthrough and even though I'm only about "halfway done" the game has felt like I'm "wrapping things up post-game" for this entire playthrough


not sure what the game gains by making you go through most of the same stuff with added cutscenes.

Yeah, that was pretty shit decision because enemies are attackin too without a way to dodge or fight back in any form

I managed it fine enough. Once you get through the sewers, you immediately cut left along the cliff and head up out of the bowl. Don't try to cut directly across the bowl, as they'll fuck you.

It's interesting because even though he recorded 9S's lines, they usually recorded separately from other actors, so he'd only know half the conversation and not have the context to put it together.
