If not for the colour, I'd think they were pretty cool. Definitely a neat idea.

Honestly speaking I don't really think of black slavery in America when I see shackles... the stories about this design are as ridiculous as those "Mad Men is making fun of 9/11 by showing a man falling" articles.

I don't think icon here was criticising these shoes because they represent black slavery

sure, selling shackle accessories for sneakers to african americans is probably not the smartest thing in the world given the history of slavery in the us, the over-representation of black males in the prison population, and the demographics for designer sneakers

I think they look kinda cool. I've seen way worse, for sure. The chains are obv stupid, but I can imagine them being pretty popular with equally stupid kids.
