It's still clearly a really dumb premise, to be sure, but the trailer gives me hope for a decent movie.

Wouldn't be too shocking! Machete, Piranha 3D, Crank 1, Crank 2, Shoot Em Up, Wanted, Snakes on a Plane, are all critically praised films.

A) Did they honestly think they could necessarily make that back? I mean, it could I suppose, but that's not the kind of budget you should be throwing around on a gimmick movie that has the potential to bomb.

B) Where did all that money go? The trailers I've seen make the movie look really cheap. Like a step above a Straight to DVD. Maybe it's just the lighting or something, but it looks far less professional than that budget implies.

Just got back from an advanced screening that was the (according to the director) first screening seen by people outside of the cast/crew of the movie. Overall I was very impressed, having never read the book I did not really know what to expect. Acting was good, nothing Oscar worthy but no poor performances. Everyone did their job well, especially Benjamin Walker and Dominic Cooper. They both excelled in their roles as Lincoln and Henry respectively. Plot flowed well and was easy to follow, and the action was absolutely fantastic. It was over the top, fast paced, bloody, and very well done. If you don't mind seeing vampires getting hacked, slashed, and bashed to death in a wide variety of ways, you'll enjoy this movie.

I'm gonna watch it, regardless. Thing is, I go to the cinema every Wednesday because I've got an unlimited card and I can get my friend in for free on Wednesdays, but we've run out of films either of us want to see. So, good or bad, we'll probably give this one a look in.


Also, Prometheus was awful.

Prometheus looked uninteresting and Avengers I don't care about Marvel at all.

That's not too much for a major release, but if Fox is thinking this is going to be a major release, that seems to be somewhat of a gamble. Based on Snakes on a Plane at least, which seems to be the most comparable example
