Nintendo certainly can thrive without third-party games. The Wii is a good example of that.

The Wii has a bevy of third-party games I'm interested in.

It's just that those third-party games have sold very badly unless Sonic was in the game.

Actually that's not true. Third party sales were pretty strong on the Wii. Better, in some cases, than the equivalents on the PS3 and 360. The PS3 in particular is poison to software sales in general.

All that really held it back was the technology.

Third-party fitness and dance games are often better than the 360 and PS3, yes. Most third-party games sell much more on the other two systems than on the Wii. The Wii software sales are driven almost entirely by Nintendo games, not third parties.

And the PS3 has sold 595 million copies of software, not sure where you're getting the idea it's 'poison.' Wii has sold 818 by comparison, and that includes games like Wii Sports and Wii Play.

Well, I still maintain that it would have been on the PS3 if the PS3 was easy to develop for, which it wasn't.

That simply isn't true. Microsoft paid for BioShock exclusivity, just like they have done with other games. It's a smart move.
