It's the most annoying dungeon in PS2. By FAR. Remember Climatrol? Waaaaaaaay more annoying than that.

Cool, I had Sean on my first playthrough of PS3.

I don't really remember much about the endings but I think they were all pretty similar. Also the stuff you do in the 3rd generation is very similar regardless of who your character is. The second generation quests are completely different though.

Ikuto was the dungeon where I said "**** it" and didn't even try to get through without referencing a map. I studied the paths through there, came out with the fewest number of trips possible, and tried to blaze through there as quick as I could.

I don't even know how someone could sanely do that without a reference map.

okay

the initial shock was insane

this dungeon can be SO overwhelming at first.

but I think I've calmed down

its ...not TOO hard to explore, its just a matter of trial and error and remembering where you've been and what holes lead where.

yea. not easy >_>. but I have the middle hole completely covered already, no need to go back down there as I've already explored everything in there, working on the other two holes

and by middle hole, I mean the hole in the middle out of the three holes you encounter when you immediately enter the dungeon

the problem with exploring are the enemies. They're insanely hard. THREE Gloswords in one monster group?!
WHAT THE F***! They do like 50-70 each hit. I don't last very long. not to mention every other random encounter has a dragon in it as well.

I've already retreated 2 times and I'm lookin like I'm about to retreat a third.

I didn't know there were branching paths that led to dead ends! I guess I got lucky the first time!

I got so lost that my party ended up pretty battered

by the time I found the damn mansion, I was dying and low on MP

and then he gives me the Neisword and sends me off to another dungeon!

so as I went along, I fought many tough enemies. god damn. They were wearing me down and I was forced to use alot of healing magic. it really sucks this game doesn't have MP recovering items.

God dammit this guy was hard. he would "turn allies to evil" and incapacitate them in some way. then he would do a move that takes like 2/5s of my life. I eventually beat him by smacking him around alot but I was forced to retreat afterwards

The ending theme is called "Never Dream", so I thought it obvious that it was meant as BAD END...but while using Google to be sure I had the music's name right, it's possible I've been wrong all these years. There's an official "Phantasy Star Compendium" in Japan and, if the translations are to be believed, it states that the heroes defeated the "Earthmen race" but what happened afterwards is unknown. It's possible they all died anyway, but they did kill all humans first.
