**Spoilers for Shadow Broker DLC + main game**

So I'm getting kind of concerned because I was holding off on the loyalty missions because I thought I would amass all the morality points I could and then go finish the missions, choose the dialogue option and ensure everyone's loyalty. But I read that the game checks the possible morality points for the conversation options up to that point in the game so it's better to do them as soon as possible? Do sidequests/DLC missions factor into this total?

I got Thane and just finished the Shadow Broker DLC (which I didn't even know was DLC). My paragon gauge is about 2/3rds full before the first notch and my renegade gauge is about half past the first notch. On the shadow broker mission when you're talking to the other spectre, both the paragon and renegade options were greyed out at one point.

Would it be best to do Miranda/Jack's missions now or hold off until I get more points but make it harder? Or am I screwed?

I think it jumps after you do Tuchanka stuff

are you playing paragon or renegade?

if you are playing paragon you can get infinite para points from Samara's loyalty mission easily so you don't have to worry about it.

Well I guess I'm committed to doing renegade now but very early on I think I picked some of the paragon/neutral choices.

Apparently it's easier to get the renegade maintain loyalty option during their little tiff than it is paragon.

So you might be fine.

Worse case scenario you could always max it and renegade Miranda into loyalty after the fact.

I generally do loyalty missions as soon as they appear.

Its Grunt's + Mordin's loyalty though not sure how it is (may be higher the further you are)

the way I did it was just doing Samara's mission early on then just do the infinite para thing so I didn't have to worry about stuff being greyed out for the loyalty conversations and stuff (ren would still be up as well for a little bit I think)

Wait, did you mean that the requirements become harder if I do these missions?

From what I understand, Paragon/Renegade checks in ME2 are based on a total percentage of the possible points you could have received up until that point.

For instance, as soon as you land on Tuchanka, all the possible Paragon/Renegade points are factored into your percentage from then on. So if you haven't gotten any of the points on Tuchanka it's gonna end up hurting you. Same goes for the other planets.

That's why I always did loyalty missions ASAP.

Certain decisions are also easier to pass if you're Paragon and some are easier if you're Renegade.

Save often, because if you can't pass an important Paragon/Renegade check, sometimes if you go to the lab and respec your class passive to give you 100% boosts rather than 75% it'll push you over the edge and let you pass. If you're already using the 100% evolution then there's not much you can do.

Okay so I've already landed on Illium and gotten Thane but haven't gotten Samara. Do the potential points on the Samara recruiting mission factor into my possible total? So should I just go get Samara and then do the missions?

I think everything on the planets counts towards you as soon as you land, including any missions there.

I have to stress that I'm not 100% sure on this, though. ME2's morality system is weird.

In any case, once you start the loyalty missions, do Miranda's first, then Jack's. Make sure you have a save before Jack's since hers is a bit shorter if you end up needing to try the respec trick.

Or you could just respec ahead of time, but that does waste some credits.

is the skill I need to upgrade for the morality boost in the squad window?

Or is the upgrade thing different?

You need to upgrade the passive class skill(the one at the bottom).
