Board 8 > Is there any way to find out how "rigorous" your college is?

I'm trying to go into law school and I know that they mainly care about GPA and LSAT score. But they also said to put emphasis on exactly how rigorous your undergraduate college is, to measure on GPA. I've been kind of thinking if I should stay at my college (a CSU) or possibly transfer to a UC, if I could even do that. I don't plan on transferring to a private college, because that combined with law school would leave me in a mountain of debt.

Basically, I want to know if my college is rigorous enough to be accepted by some of the higher tiered law schools or if I should aim for possibly transferring to a UC or something.

I don't know that there is a way, but it probably comes down more to if they've even heard of your school. Obviously a 3.7 at Harvard means more than a 4.0 at Greendale, but as long as you're not trying to go somewhere super prestigious, I'd think you would be fine if you're not too picky and get good grades overall, etc. overall.

GPA is a way for schools to charge you more money.

GPA is, along with LSAT, the defining variable that determines whether or not you get into law school.

As for how to know the school's "rigorousness," the US News & World Report rankings work fine.
