Just finished up with a background check, I should be ok baring a minor car crash I had(Minor in the sense no one got hurt, I wasn't drunk or anything, and the ticket was payed for without incident) ends up being more damning than I expect.


No work experience under my belt, so I'm pretty happy if I get hired. At the same time I'm rather worried. First time jitters aside, I'm not the most social person and the job I signed up for involves being social.


This will be the year I finally turn my life around for the better.

From what I understand, the trick to call collections is in making the sucker on the other end think you're doing him a favor. Yelling, screaming, shaming, and intimidating is for saps; the good collectors know how to make their targets feel relieved. If they say they can only pay $100 a month, tops, find them a rate at $75. They'll feel less pressured that way, and they'll be more inclined to pay.

That's more my style anyway I think.

But the said they'd train me so we'll see how things go.

Then you've dealt with collectors who didn't know what they were doing.

I had a training class at my current job (not collections) with a guy who did collections. What I suggested were actually his tips. The fact that he was successful at his job indicates that his style works.
