Board 8 > What is it about Jak and Daxter that makes the series good?

I'm trying to decide if I want to eventually buy the HD collection. I've never played the games. Watching some gameplay and it doesn't look all that impressive, but it's probably one of those "you have to experience for yourself" things.

So... convince me to play the games. Give me good and valid reasons why the games are worth it.

They are fun and challenging platformers.

The first game is more of a SM64 style platformer, while after that its a bit more linear and actiony(With a big difficulty ramp up).

Excellent games all around though. You should buy without a second thought.

Fun, challenging games with some fun characters. The first game is more of a traditional platformer, but the second and third games try to be a platformer/sandbox hybrid. If you like collect-a-thons and the like, you'll like them.

You like Ratchet & Clank, right? You'll probably like Jak & Daxter, too.

That's what I was thinking. Since I do enjoy Ratchet and Clank, I figured Jak and Daxter might be the logical next step.

Personally, I think R&C is a better series, but J&D is good times, too.

And even if you don't like the first game, at least give the second one a try because it's a lot different.

I like a good platformer. Like Sly Cooper, the first game was fantastic. Second and third game not so much. Didn't get very far in either of them.

I'm worried that Jake and Daxter might turn out like that for me.

They're comparable to the original Crash trilogy, which is saying quite a lot (at least coming from me!). One of ND's three great trilogies.

It's the opposite of crash.
Crash 1 was meh, while 2 and 3 are amazing.
Jak 1 is amazing, while 2 and 3 are okay.
