Board 8 > Games like Ogre Battle 64?

I'm about to load up Ogre Battle 64 again after playing a couple of the Tactics games and, let me tell you, they are nothing like Ogre Battle. I've heard that the Fire Emblem games are the most similar, although I played one a while back and didn't really think so. But I can see how are they similar. I think it was the one with Eliwood. So, tell me what the best Fire Emblem game is, or recommended another similar title if you don't mind.

growlanser kind of reminds me of it. it has the same kind of style of movement, but it's more about person vs. person instead of capturing cities/castles and having 'units' of people.

have you ever played the snes ogre battle? that's the obvious next step if you've only played ob64

or you can just play LUCT for the PSP instead and get the superior-superior ogre battle game.

For Fire Emblem, most people will advise some combination of 4, 5, 7, and 9; I'd personally recommend 7 first, since it's both accessible to beginners and very balanced/polished.

I hate to seem like this, but I couldn't get into the SNES Ogre Battle even though I've heard it's good. I played Ogre Battle 64 first and it spoiled me with being very pretty.

As for Fire Emblem, is the Scared Stones okay to play after the 7th one?

that's how most people played it because that was the 2nd one localized. it's just a bit different than 7 is and a lot of people didn't like the changes. it did do some spiffy things though, so sure.
