Third Round! The field is thinning significantly! Thirty-two of the most prominent Song of Ice and Fire characters are left! Who is the best character GRRM has ever created?! The most votes per round wins and moves on in this bracket style competition. The contest will continue until the most popular character in Westeros is crowned!!!
This contest can be found on 2 different boards, but only one vote per user will be accepted. The two boards are: Books and Literature and Gamefaqs Contests. Any suspicious votes will be discounted. Each character will be supplied with a link to Wiki Song of Ice and Fire that briefly describes them and their accomplishments throughout the series. There’s a lot of characters in this series, my hope is that these links will remind users who did what and when.

~ Catelyn falls to Syrio. Even though the seeding suggest otherwise you had to think Catelyn was going into this match as an under dog. She kept the match very close. ~ Jon Snow/Varys and Theon/Syrio for the next round is all set!

(9)Sandor Clegane - Dany is cool and all, but alternates between Mary Sue and inept leader (and no, the two don't even out). The Hound, on the other hand, is a really good character, that fits perfectly within ASOIAF's universe! (5)Tywin Lannister - Victarion's a bit bland. Tywin is an extremely underrated villain, ruthless, smart, with a bit of hypocrisy to boot and a believable backstory. No question here. (3)Eddard Stark - Now this one's a bit harder, as I find both characters to be equally good. Thus, I'm going to play favourites and vote for my man Ned. (10)Jorah Mormont - Bran is lame (no pun intended). Jorah's alright. Weakest duo of today's round, IMO.
Edit: I expect Theon to crush Syrio next round. I also think Jon/Varys will be very close, but contrary to my earlier prediction, I think Jon wins. Still think Theon will win that division, though.
This round should end with Hound > Tywin, Ned > Jorah and Ned > Hound (although I'd rather see the Hound beat Ned), but the final match is a toss-up.

(1)Daenerys Targaryen - The Hound is awesome, but Dany gets way too much hate just 'cause people don't enjoy her plot. As a character she's still brilliant, at least to me. (5)Tywin Lannister - STILL don't care about Victarion, and still think Tywin is an incredible character. (3)Eddard Stark - Robert Baratheon's just a bit of a **** at the end of the day; Ned's everything right in that world, and his death was a big shock to me (and, I'm sure, a lot of others). (10)Jorah Mormont - Sorry, don't like Bran and the whole psychic thing; Jorah is awesome, both generally and particularly book 5, one of the few bright sparks in the whole book for me.

Have you been to westeros.org? About half of the people there hate him! (Although the other half has good taste and recognize his gloriousness.) He's very underrated IMO.
I just can't wait until he arrives to Harrenhal in the series. I'm pretty sure they added additional scenes between Arya and Tywin, and since Maisie Williams and Charles Dance are both amazing actors, well... it'll be fun!

I don't go on fan sites, I don't like hearing fan theories 'cause it kinda spoils the surprise for me (although I already know pretty much all of them by now, annoyingly).

Dany was at her best during AGOT, and was probably a top 5 character then, but she's taken a big drop ever since. She's still good and fun (and definitely above average), but the Hound is much better, IMO. Strangely enough, though, I *do* like her plotline so far!

I'm sad that I missed the first two rounds of this. I'm also displeased with the apparent hate on Catelyn and Davos, two of my favorite characters in the series.

Davos isn't hated, he just went against an amazing character and handled himself very well. Davos' definitely top 10 material in my books.
