So I'm trying to add some money to PSN using a prepaid card and it keeps telling me that my information is wrong... I have the postal code and everything set up online and the card has worked for other websites before. But on PSN... no dice. So I look the problem up online and apparently some cards don't work because they don't allow the merchant to put holds on them. Only problem is that this card does.
So instead of just not allowing me to add the card and having that be the end of it... it repeatedly told me that the information was wrong, yet put 5 individual holds on the card for $1 each.
Prepaid cards are bad news for online transactions. They have a ton of problems with authentication. I would never recommend them for online use because they are so inconsistent.
As for the $1 hold, that is basically the card issuer registering the authentication request, but failing to respond in a way that is decipherable to the authenticator. In other words, PSN is not getting an ok from the card issuer to charge the card, either because the response is no, or being misunderstood.
