Now this is entertainment!

One fun reason that could help, is the whole Japan thing. And also the more oldschool the stuff (NES sprites) the less likely they'll get their stuff together and do something about it.

Funny anecdote, a friend of mine who worked at Harmonix years earlier was working on making a River City Ransom port for GBA in his spare time, he looked it up and thought nobody had the rights to it in the states at the time. Of course, that turned out not to be the case.

The sprites weren't straight rips of RCR but you could clearly tell they used RCR sprites as a base

however there would always be random other game sprites in the backgrounds and stuff, and those were usually direct rips
