I liked the game. I have taken a break in the last few weeks, but I'm going to get back into it soon. I only have the last dungeon to do and about 50 fragments to get.

Definitely liked the game a lot, it was tons of fun with a lot of polish put into it.

And while people say the story's bad, I dunno, it felt a bit more unique. Time travel itself isn't unique, but the whole ensuing "ok, it's not just things going back in the past to change things, it is straight up everything is ****ed and oh god why does that even exist in this time" was a nice change of pace. Made it feel busy, what with a ton of different borderline world ending scenarios here and there.

Yeah, 13-2's story is surprisingly decent. The only think that didn't quite jive with me is how comfortable and learned everyone in the world seems to be on time travel and paradoxes and s***.

What's up with that.

It's not like the FFXIII world hasn't seen some weird stuff already.

yeah it's pretty funny how everyone seems to take the discovery of time travel in stride, with serah going as far as coming up with elaborate (and correct) conclusions based on nothing but conjecture.

does the game ever get harder? I'm only in 5 AF, but sheesh. I'm getting a little tired of the battles almost feeling like a typical JRPG button mashing attack, I barely ever have to even paradigm shift so far.

Regular encounters never get terribly difficult, no, but there are some bosses that can be tricky.

that was one of my favorite parts of 13! I was thinking on my feet, and actually doing work for even regular battles. I enjoyed that.

I don't remember any battles in 5AF Bresha being that tough, but some of the next areas you go to have harder enemies available.

Plus, that's like... 2 hours into the game, right? There weren't any difficult enemies that far into XIII either.

through 5 AF... it's ok, but it's not pulling me in like 13 did early on.

So how do you unlike different timelines and such? I notice I only have 1/3 yellow icons under the 5 AF level for example, does it let you know when you can go back?

You're not notified when you can go back and unlock the other gates, but you'll just know for the most part.

I breezed through every battle until the boss of the location after 5 AF, where I got my ass kicked. I had to grind a bit there and even then if I got the wrong encounter I'd get killed if I didn't plan everything right.

The difficulty will pick up a bit

I should probably play this some time.

Quick question though. Is the battle theme still Blinded by Light?

Gates are unlocked by finding the corresponding artefact. You have to find it and then approach the gate. You won't know really when an artefact is a gate key, you just have to find them and walk up to locked gates and see what happens.

wait, so I would need to travel back to 5 AF and go to one of the locked gates or something?

Yes, like you said, you've unlocked 1 of the 3 locked gates in 5AF. You need to go back there (which you can do any time and return to where you were, it kind of saves your exact position in any time to return without hassle) and walk up to the other gates in the area, which will open if you've found the corresponding artefacts in that area.
