Bendis has produced a number of high quality works (Ultimate Spider-Man, Daredevil, Powers, Spider-Woman, some Avengers, Scarlet); I doubt a book where Bendis will have to confront two of his weaknesses (properly balancing a team dynamic while giving each a character distinct voice, writing a satisfying event book) is up there with those books.

It's not an either / or proposition - Bendis struggles with consistency (at least in regards to quality, and not in how many books he's able to turn out) and is often placed on books where his strengths aren't on display. He's a good writer, but he's still flawed.

Scarlet was pretty good.
I read some Bendis Daredevil a bit back and I didn't like it but I see why someone would. Also read some more USM and got pretty bored. I also see why people would like that, though. Strictly speaking, I've never liked a Bendis book, except maybe Scarlet. Never read Powers. JRJR on the other hand is the Tony Daniel of Marvel. Fantastic Four #605 was very excellent. Hickman has been doing very great stuff with Fantastic Four/FF.
