Pretty good. Done with ME3 for now. Job hunting is going to be taking up a lot of my time during the day, followed by work once I get a job, so yeah.

Glad I recently got my first SmartPhone so I can save on the go though!

Yeah Smartphones are pretty sweet. It's all I'll have to save on for the next three days so sniping will be out of the question and don't be surprised if I only get two saves in. Ergo, I'm leaving the fate of FFX in the capable (chuckles) hands of vcharon until I return. We'll see how THIS plays out. :3

This has probably been asked before, but who ha had the best performance as a newcomer? Obviously excepting contest 1. Probably should except a couple of others (ff12/13s first contests come to mind) but yeah.

Train's aren't by definition shady.

All a train implies is a gain of support when other characters start to fall. There have been countless trains in this series, most of them legitimate. It's just the ones that everyone remembers are the questionable ones.

The problem with trains is that their supporters end up getting desperate enough to begin rallying, whether or not the train began as a legitimate support group. Especially once a victory is within reach, then anything goes.

I wasn't around for Lulu, but since I've been participating I don't think there's been anyone that has won because of rallying. There are certainly characters that got farther than they should have, but none of the questionable ones have won IMO.

Well if you want to look at it in the isolated bubble of CX, it could have been a train because I did my damnedest to soak up all the support from each character that fell. But it was a beast that had been growing for a while before that, yes.

I didn't personally rally for Marche, but I know the Revolution existed far beyond my scope by the end of it.

But there were also counter-rallies for Ultros and Relm that were going on at the same time trying to sap away from Marche.

Delita stumbling face first into a top five finish might be my favorite part of the last contest though.

Were there really people rallying for Marche? I thought he gained most of his support within the topics and picked up steam from there. I know people were rallying for Relm and Ultros, but I don't believe anyone rallied for Marche. At least not on any massive scale.

That really only proves that the last contest was the most shady of all. Not having any idea of "how bad" Contest II was, but I have a hard time believing 3-4 trains rode into the final group of 10. All of those rallies have been admitted to by several people so this is just me restating what has already been stated. Like I said, maybe Marche started as someone people were voting for on their own will, but some supporters eventually were seeking outside help.

Hopefully that's in the past, legit results can be kind of fun too.

partystar was blatant and flippant with it and raytan paid it no mind.

And I'd say 10 out of 13 contest were 'legit' results. Reno rode a complete joke vote to the end, Lulu rode a complete alt-rally to the end, and Marche rode a Revolution train with possible-rallying to the end. The rest as far as I know are all legitimate.

I'd count Reno as legit. It may have been joke related and based on softcore yaoi images, but I don't recall anything beyond that being strange about it. Reno is legitimately a popular character.

I totally disagree with this hilariously black and white logic. I started voting last year and I was only rallied one time. After that I started voting myself and then instituted my own mass rallying organization/movement. I haven't rallied or been rallied at all this year. The people who were voting for Marche might have been rallied a few times to vote for other people, but after voting in the topics a few times and following the discussions they were likely endeared to the Marche humor in the topics and started voting for him willingly (this is just an example) and in the final, Marche was one of only TWO options left. A lot of the people who had been rallied in earlier rounds to vote for Rydia, Ultros, or Relm were likely just sticking around to see the contest through to completion.

I'm not sure if leader is an accurate term. Maybe 'face' works better. There were various other people who did a lot of the grunt work and organization but I doubt it would have been as successful without such a charismatic figurehead. And as I said above, as far as I know, nobody was rallying for Marche. The whole purpose was to advance 2D characters, especially those who would be viewed as 'undeserving' the further and further we got into the contest (more undeserving = bigger reaction). My theory is still that by the time it was down to the final two (Marche vs Lightning) no rallying was really even required to net Marche the win. . . Everyone who was interested in the joke that the contest had become was ALREADY following it and planning on voting for Marche.

I personally voted for Marche 3 times and then Lightning 3 times just to screw with people (including those who believed they were on the "same side" as me)

Reno was straight joke. CloudxReno was the one of the original propaganda images.
Marche was definitely based on propaganda, and claims of rallying. I don't deny it considering how the contest played out, I just don't know of any firsthand.

oh and the other thing that my presence brought to the table which I'm sure benefited the rallied characters quite a bit was a base of operations. everything became much more streamlined because all of the organization was done in the chat and delegated outwards as such, and in a location where there was really close to zero concern of anyone 'tattling' to raytan about what was going on.

aye, it's something that cannot be experienced firsthand anymore either. those golden days are unfortunately long past. nowadays if you go in there at random you're likely to find BIGPUN squatting and. . . well, maybe 1-2 people idle if you're lucky. occasionally some people will get in there at the same time and the chat will seem as good as new for a few hours but then the illusion breaks and it's back to being an empty shell.

no, User was intentionally being dickish by making that claim because he was under the impression that 1) FFD wouldn't do anything about it because it couldn't be "proven" and that 2) people would back him up

he didn't actually believe what he was saying.

when neither of these things came to pass you'll notice he just sort of vanished because he was fighting a losing battle. in the event that someone is rallied into the contest and then starts voting of their own accord for characters that they actually like on a regular basis, well, yeah. I'm obviously fine with that. I'd say there's probably a good number of regular voters now who were first brought into the contest that way.

Just skeptical of it, that's all. I have a hard time believing a bunch of different people were rallied for not-Marche, then saw Marche and started to legit vote for him. That doesn't make sense to me, and generally when things don't make sense they aren't true. Doesn't make all that big of a difference at this point I suppose.
