Now I feel they're drawn out, require too much attention and time, and clicking through menus to kill something makes me feel like I really didn't kill anything.

Maybe I'm getting impatient in my old age, or I don't have time or the need to listen/read a story instead of play it...but it's almost a bummer because I'll never know what happened in some of the sequels to RPGs I once enjoyed.

Guess I'll just assume that some villain tried to destroy the world, and party of heroes saved the day. Seems like a safe bet.

I still enjoy those kinds of games....play my old RPGs more than I play new games, really.

I'm basing "age" on a comparative scale relative to the existence, popularity, and time I've spent playing video games.

Last RPG I found myself getting into that was "menu-driven" was Dragon Age Origins. The pacing and customization helped keep my attention.
