I don't think it's fair to say 'all fanbases are bad'. All fanbases have bad parts to them, yes, but for many of them the good outweighs the bad. Stuff like Homestuck and Nintendo have their weirdos but they're outweighed by the good fans.

I'd like the point out that her premise that more people will buy the game because you can "skip combat" and somehow save time, or not get involved in combat because you don't want to would "increase sales" is most likely false. The people buying the game want a complete package, and those who don't have any interest in it are not going to buy it because you're taking something away.

In my experience, a lot of girls are interested in the idea of an interactive world with a story and character but turned off by the idea of challenging gameplay. It's not really a bad idea to expand the market at all, as long as it's kept optional.

If you want an interactive story, then play a graphic novel or something, and I use the word "play" very loosely here. Like, imagine if a puzzle game had a story and people didn't want to solve puzzles, but just get to the story, i mean, what would be the point of the game? There would not be one.

There are non traditonal rpgs and non rpgs with decent stories.
