Make sure you head back to Edea's house so you can win the Edea card from her (She's the only person in the game who carries her own card)
PuPu! And all other monsters I guess, but PuPu is the only other one who carries his/her/its own rare card! (Aware that's not what you meant, but I feel the need to provide inappropriate card trivia)

PuPu is really the game's only "rare" card in the sense that there's literally only one. You can use the Left Diamond Girl on Disc 4 to get back any and all other "rare" cards as often as you want except for that one.
I don't think I've actually ever bothered to complete that sidequest, now that I think about it.

Is FF9 really that overrated? I still see about as many haters for 9 as I do for 8, say. Admittedly I don't pay attention 'cause I don't really care what board 8 thinks about games, but still!

Where are you going that you see this? Maybe on other boards, but Board 8 definitely loves FFIX disproportionately! NCAA Games II showed that pretty nicely.

This is true. Particularly annoying since the PuPu card refines really nicely, but a perfectionist can never touch it. And someone who isn't a perfectionist is unlikely to bother to get it in the first place!

As far as Board 8 is concerned, last I checked there were more "IT'S SUCH A SHAME FFIX ISN'T RECOGNIZED AS GOD" users than "OMG SHUT UP ABOUT FFIX IT SUCKS" users.

I won't lie, I don't follow NCAA games on the grounds that NCAA scares me, so I can't comment on that. All I know is that any time someone makes a topic on FF9 it seems like loads of people go in specifically to say they hate it.
This is vague and anecdotal I know, but it's almost 3am here in my defence, plus I don't really care that much, it's my own opinion (and the opinion of people I care about the opinions of) that matters!

LeonhartFour posted... I know the PuPu sidequest isn't hard. I've just never bothered with it. I'm not a big sidequest guy in most games. Definitely not a completionist.
It kinda surprises me that you aren't like that at least for FFVIII though.

Honestly, most of FFVIII's sidequests are boring and don't have much in the way of reward. I'll do stuff like Deep Sea Research Center, Centra Ruins, etc. because they're neat and you get some good stuff out of them.
But crap like the Obel Lake sidequest? No thanks.

Ah, that makes a difference. So long as you're doing the big meaty ones I'm not as surprised. Those are the fun ones too.

And honestly, the only reason I even bother to do Chocobo Forest stuff is so I can get the Ragnarok on Disc 4. I'd probably never touch that thing otherwise.

Although I've probably come closest to doing everything (as far as sidequests are concerned, not ridiculously perfectionist freak stuff) in FFIX. I'll never do anything like try to get the Excalibur II because speed running in an RPG is a big "no thanks bro," but FFIX's sidequests are generally pretty good.
(Chocobo Hot & Cold is overrated though, yeah that's right I said it)
LeonhartFour posted... Well, there's Triple Triad, and then there's everything else.
I really can't top-tier a game I have to actively rally against allowing the AI to further complicate as the plot progresses. I think we've discussed this before and yeah, it's not as hard to ensure those crazy rules don't come to pass as most claim but it's still kind of a crippling blow to me when I'm thinking of top-tier sidequests.

Don't expect a massive update all at once after the game's beaten though. I'll probably update gradually over the next few days in between ME3 sessions. Don't want to overwhelm you guys too much...!
