typed notes, size 8, no margins is fine right?

Because that's at least 5x as much as you could get if you hand wrote it. Anyone ever have a problem with this? I usually am told what is okay.

If the professor doesn't clarify, go crazy. Just make sure you can read it lol

Probably, but you'll probably get just as much value out of creating the sheet and not bringing it to the exam as you would from bringing it to the exam too. With so much info on there, there is precious little time to search through it during the exam. Though fortunately, the process of creating the notes will likely go a long way toward you remembering what's in them.

Yeah, I notice that a lot. It really helps me study. And 8's the size I traditionally go for that I can read reasonable fast and accurate.

I would bring a handwritten page as well, just in case, if you have the time.

I wrote up the notes and set them super small and it took up half a page. Now I'm finishing up all the examples for the rest of the sheet so it doesn't look that bad. Statistics sucks btw. But I think I'll do well.

You would be surprised what one of my former roommates could handwrite for a note sheet on a test.
But yes, that seems fine.

Oh and I just saw he said we have to turn these in... guess that's to stop us from giving them to the next class. But if they were typed we could just print them out again.

If he doesn't prohibit typed notes, then typed notes should be fine.

Having said that, I'd personally handwrite it, because you can probably fit larger amounts of text on the page when you don't have to screw around with formatting in Word to avoid having white space gaps.

yeah that shouldn't be a problem. if there is a "next class" i think the main reason would be so you can't straight-up give them the answers.

I've had a professor dare people to get creative with how they make their cheat sheet, and say he'd accept microfilm. I don't think anyone's actually gone through with it though.

You shouldn't really need more than a page of handwritten notes as a cheat sheet for a class; if you're writing more than that, either your handwriting is huge, or you're writing stuff that isn't really that important and is just going to slow you down while taking the test.

Like redsox mentioned, though, the real value is in creating the sheet, as it forces you to review everything. I typically will use only one or two things on my sheet for a test, if any.

It's definitely helped a lot but have you taken statistics? It's a ****ing pain to remember which equations go with which tests.

I haven't taken statistics, but I'm a physics/math major so I'm sure some of my classes have had similar amounts of equations I needed to know >.>

Which is why my statistics teacher simply gave out a formula sheet with the test.

This.

I TAed a course on Quantum Chemistry and it was horrifying to see people's cheat sheets. They'd write down these huge operators / wavefunctions that we'd obviously give them if we wanted them to use it, and they'd also write down things so simple that I can't imagine they wouldn't have known at that point.

Really, the most useful part of an equation sheet is that it forces you to organize the different material in a logical way. This gets you thinking about underlying connections between different concepts and should help refresh everything as well as help you recall it during the exam.

Then again, you're taking stats and chances are they've just given you all of the formulas for different distributions without motivating them so there's probably not much you can do but blindly put it on your sheet. -_-

Yeah, I took Probability Theory which was basically my stats course (took one of those too) except we had to understand where the distributions came from and how to tweak them to be more useful. No cheat sheets either. =P I came into the course hating stats since stats was a really boring and dry subject from the experience I had had in it, but once it was handled more rigorously it was a lot more satisfying since everything made so much more sense.

This is probably a good point; if you don't motivate all the stuff you're doing it's harder to retain the information, since you're left to memorize things instead of really understanding why you do test X in way Y.

That would be a lot more enjoyable. But as it is, this is my last stat course so I'm just trying to muscle through it and never think of it again.
