I knock him down to about 2/3 of his starting HP and then BOOM full map attack that literally wipes out everything except maybe my strongest one or two demons. This includes my entire human party, and friggin Kaido took over 2000 damage from it
Is there any defense against this other than to just grind until eternity and pray my MAG stats+levels can stand up to it?
For reference, the demons I'm using are what I'm pretty sure are the 8 strongest I can get, base-level wise. Metatron, Okuninushi, Nyarlathotep, Asura, Amaterasu, Yurlungur, and Ongyo-ki. Since I'm playing Naoya's route, my party is Hero (Nyarlathotep/Okuninushi)/Mari (Metatron/Remiel)/Kaido (Asura/Amaterasu)/Naoya (Yurlungur/Ongyo-ki).
Well... I'd suggest grinding a bit, and kaido is more or less not going to survive. I personally beat him by using two teams with a tyrant demon in them so he only got off a couple of megidoladynes. But... He's pretty damned powerful.

I am resigned to this fact, given the damage he took <_<
But I have Samerecarm at least once on every time, twice on a couple. The Tyranny option is a good one, but will it prevent him from using the Megidoladynes?
_Regaro_ posted... What the hell is up with the Lucifer fight?
It's a brutal fight. I think most people abuse one of two methods to take him down, but it should be possible to beat him without those. You'll definitely want your magic stats close to max and I'm pretty sure it's recommended you be at least level 80 or higher. I only tried to fight him once and I was unprepared as far as demons go.
He can only use megidoladyne on his turn, and you can make it so he doesn't get one. Though when he switches phases he automatically gets a turn as I recall, so you still have to live through one or two.

Had my MC and his two demons (Loki and Bishamon) at 99, and most of the other characters were 90+
Drained his MP to 0 and then beat him down with Holy Dance. Elec Drain on the demons help (for third form), as well as Wall to reflect his Hassohappa back at him for around 5000 damage (second form).
This was the original, though, and Overclocked has better demons you can substitute in there I think.

Yes, it does. He'll use one each time he switches forms, but other than that Tyranny + Double Up means he gets almost no turns possible.

Wait, he uses Megidoladyne even on turns when he doesn't switch forms?
welp
Sorry Nyarlathotep, your usefulness in taking advantage of Hero's +1 move is over
