Nah, I tried the Paragon route once and I didn't like it as much. Always prefer to let Garrus get his revenge. Sidonis deserves it.
And I'm confused, are you saying Garrus has more or less reason to want Sidonis dead than Zaeed wanting Vito dead? Sidonis was responsible for the death of ten good men. Garrus definitely had a perfectly legit reason for revenge. Zaeed did too, but it was for his own selfishness.

It's just the way I perceived it. Garrus's cause seemed much bigger and more noble, and he had no less fire and anger in talking about it than Zaeed did. I point again to that awesome Garrus line. Zaeed did a lot of yelling about Vido needing to die "whatever the cost," but none of it had the power that "ten unmarked graves" did imo.
Also I think it's great that people are disagreeing with my rankings as long as everyone is enjoying these. Watching people gang up on smurf got me worried that the same would happen here, because I honestly thought smurf's write-ups were pretty good.

They both have perfectly good reasons for wanting to kill their targets.
But to say Garrus's reason was "better" or "more understandable," I don't really get that. What's so hard to understand about wanting to kill the guy who shot you in the head?
Garrus's is more "relatable," and maybe that's what you actually meant, but they're both pretty easily to understand why they'd want revenge.
Oh sure, they're both very understandable. But Garrus wants to avenge fallen comrades. Zaeed just wants selfish revenge. Garrus definitely has the more noble goal here.

whether people agree with your rankings or not they are actually well-informed and you are capable of accepting and understanding criticism from people who disagree with you without disrespecting them. people don't intentionally 'gang up' on Smurf or anything, he just has a bad attitude that has always caused him to be sort of disliked aside from a few small periods of time when he turned face and got a bunch of nobodies to suck up to him for a while.
May have been a poor choice of words, but Garrus being such a great character makes anything he's in awesome. Zaeed is fine enough, but it seemed more of a cut and dry sort of mission of revenge. Garrus was attempting to follow in Shepard's footsteps by leading a team, and his failure turned his character down a darker road. I wouldn't say he has "more reason" for revenge, just that his reasons were much more appealing to go along with regardless of your moral stance. Helping a mercenary get some revenge on other mercenaries doesn't quite rank up there with that.
Keep in mind Garrus was fighting crime, Zaeed created a mercenary band we spend the majority of the game having to kill because they're the bad guys.

Well, even Zaeed acknowledges that the Blue Suns NOW are bad guys. The reason he got outed in the first place was because he opposed including Batarians in their ranks because of their terrorist tendencies.
I agree that the area where you do the fighting in Garrus' loyalty mission is really bland, but everything else that happens in the mission makes up for it. It'd probably be in my top three.

I think it's better to let Garrus have his revenge, but it's important to talk to Sidonis first. Just letting him say "oh ****" and then dying isn't that satisfying a conclusion. Talking to him for a bit, letting him know that he's screwed, having them reminisce a bit, and then shooting him is the best way to handle it.

Like I said, I guess that is an upside to a smaller cast in ME3. They will undoubtedly have more conversation time whether you are romancing them or not. Coming into ME2, I'm sure BioWare was aware they were already very popular (hence them being the ones that were playable in both games) and giving more times to guys like Thane and Mordin created popularity for them as well. It obviously didn't work with all characters for everyone, but with a cast as large as ME2's it's rare for anyone to not have a character they really don't care for. I'll still miss the size of the party though and all the team options available.
And I agree about Thane, unfortunately. That sort of seems to be inevitable.

The best part of that exchange is that they're talking about how careful and suspicious they're being about not assuming anyone isn't a Geth, and she never suspects Legion is actually a Geth.
Also, one of the best "side mission" Renegade Shepard moments is talking to those Asari women who that security lady won't let leave the Citadel, and Shepard rips them a new one.

As an asari Justicar, Samara is bound by an ancient Code to combat injustice. For hundreds of years, she has tracked down murderers, slavers, smugglers, and other dregs that litter the Milky Way. Despite her centuries of successes, the proud matriarch still walks with burdened steps, as her greatest failure is still out there: her daughter Morinth, the Ardat-Yakshi.
Ardat-Yakshi are extremely rare (some presume them to be a myth) asari with a dangerous genetic mutation. When a normal asari “joins” with another person, that joining is a simple sex or mating ritual. When an Ardat-Yakshi does it, the joining leaves the other person – regardless of gender or species – good and dead. Morinth is a particularly dangerous specimen, a master of seduction who has been on the loose, leaving people as sexed-up husks, for 400 years. When Samara gains intel that her daughter is on Omega, she enlists Shepard for help to track her down.
This is the second of two non-combat loyalty quests, and yes, I prefer it to Thane’s. Thane’s mission is awesome for the emotion and character development. Despite also dealing with a family struggle, Samara’s isn’t as emotional, but it’s great for other reasons.
For starters, you can actually choose to kill Samara and have Morinth secretly assume her place on your crew. The decision to kill off and replace a teammate is arguably the most significant (and evil) one presented to Shepard in a loyalty quest. No foolin yo, it definitely caught me by surprise watching the mother and daughter tear each other apart and all of a sudden KILL SAMARA/KILL MORINTH like whaaaaaaaaaat.
However, what sets this mission apart isn’t necessarily the battle between asari family, but the focus on and aggrandizement of the greatest character in the series: Commander Revan Shepard (as voiced by Jennifer Hale and no one else). Everyone knows that Shep is the nexus between all things Mass Effect. She is all things to all factions, but it’s missions like this – where she can show off that piquant wit and really lather on the charm – where her appeal as a character truly shines.
You see, we don’t reach Morinth by blazing a trail of hot lead, but by luring her out of the VIP area of Omega’s hottest disco, Afterlife. To accomplish this, Shepard goes in solo and makes enough of an impression to garner Morinth’s attention. She can talk the bartender into drinks on the house, punch out a belligerent drunk, save an unbeknownst woman from murder, and dance dance DANCE the night away! Hey, it’s where this gif came from:
There is just way too much awesome Shep action, and I’m always upset that Morinth pulls you aside before you get a chance to do it all. Shep is the queen of this series, she OWNS this mission, and is you disagree… SUCK IT HATERS OHHHHHHHHH

I actually just found out not too long ago, after Investigating in a conversation with Samara, that there are only three Ardat-Yakshi. Well that Samara knows of. All three of them are her daughters.
When I first realized that I was like no waaaaaaaay.

It's a shame that the "Kill Samara" option is A) one of the biggest examples of something you need to be nearly 100% Paragon or Renegade to pull off, and B) it's a mind bogglingly stupid decision that no sane person would ever make in-universe <_<

It's a good experience, but since it involved Samara I was a little bored by it. I suppose I'd say about her what many here say about Jack; having a conversation with her is a bit painful. Unlike Jack, I never really "got" her, so to speak.
That said, I still will probably never recruit Morinth. That seems reserved for the completely evil. Not really much about Paragon and Renegade there; you have to be plain evil to make that choice.

Rather interesting to think how different a Samara side mission (assuming there will be any) in ME3 would be if you elected to have Morinth live instead. Seems like it would completely change the character's goals.

It's more that any temptation fun suicide might hold is kind of overruled by the whole "serial killer who is notorious for being extremely patient and manipulative and good at getting people on her side so she can later betray them, and who wants to make me one of her victims, has just offered to help out and be my friend, SOUNDS LEGIT" thing. Especially when even if you're pure evil, Morinth would still want to kill you, but Samara has sworn she won't kill you until after she's finished helping you so you could always ambush her to get her out of the picture while she's still having to obey your orders.
Another problem with that mission is that Morinth is really boring. "Yay I'm evil because it's fun" is kind of hard to pull off well in a setting that mostly tries to have some depth to it. Her character pretty much feels like "more eloquent Jack"

My guess is that Samara will be one of the least important squadmates in ME3. She doesn't seem to have much of a fanbase and isn't important to the overall ME story/alliance building compared to characters like Wrex, Legion, and Mordin. Unfortunately, characters like Kasumi and Thane fall in that same category, but they have bigger fanbases so hopefully they'll be more prominently featured.

I want to eventually have a file with Morinth recruited on it, but I've only ever had the option to get her on Paragon runs, and I can't justify to myself why my character would be space Superman all game only to randomly decide that serial killer rapist chick would be a good buddy

I agree that you have to be evil to recruit Morinth, but I am evil. However, I've only recruited her once so far just so I could have Dominate, and I don't see myself ever going with her again. Because I actually love Samara.
