I could see that. With how much they go through in this movie I've always wondered about it.

Yeah, this was one of my absolute favorite movies growing up.

And I don't think any of the rumors of animal abuse were ever actually confirmed by anyone, and the original story that alleged it was printed in a tabloid. It still seems plausible, but I don't think there's any substantial evidence.
