This video has been shared on Facebook by a bunch of friends, and the comments surrounding it are crazy. It's shocking how this was an eye-opener for some kids, but at the same time I'm glad that their eyes were opened. I guess that I'm just really pleased to see how open-minded the our generation is (I may copypasta some of the kids' comments). It's also great to see them supporting a cause which doesn't even directly affect them (no openly gay kids at my school as far as I know, it's a small school).

Worth a watch even if you're probably pretty aware.

You know what? Before I saw this video i was against gay's, but after seeing this video and i realized to each their own (as long as they%uFEFF dont force it on others)

This one is suprisingly important because it comes from one of the more generally, well, brickheaded kids in the grade. The guy who made the comment below said "you have no idea how much I respect you for saying that" to this kid and I agree.

Just watched this video earlier today... I won't lie, but it was so emotional, I cried. It's incredible how ignorant some people can be, and it's people like them that disgust me, utterly. But then you get a video like this, that is so powerful, so hopeful, that I coudn't help but smile. Ignorance is no excuse; there are thousands of ways to educate yourself one issues like this. And yet I saw people in the comments section who condemned homosexual men and women, saying they were going to hell, tnat what they were doing was an abomination, even stooping to slander them... While that disgusts me, many things about this video made me feel like we as a species can fix ourselves yet! :) Watch this, an emotional video, a powerful video, a poignant video.

And then it was shared numerous other times. I like how facebook collates sharings now. There's also been like a solid number of likes for each so far.

Our generation is only open-minded relatively.

I guarantee you there are dozens, if not hundreds of kids on your facebook seeing that video and sneering or holding back the brainwashed bile about this.

I kid you not. I was hanging out with my best friend and his family a few weeks ago, and one of his in-laws is a 19 year old girl, going to college. They are extremely religious. The subject of movies came up, and I told them mine was V for Vendetta. Her nose cringed up in disgust and she told me about how the movie was okay, except for the disturbing and gross part where the guys were in bed together and the girls were kissing.

That's right. Probably less than a minute of homosexual activity in a nearly two hour film was what stood out to her. We got into an argument about it, and my best friend kept trying to tell me to cool it, and I eventually did under the guise of letting her have her opinion and me keeping mine.

But it's not an opinion. It's a mental deficiency that these people, people like SephirothG, people like my best friend's in-law, literally MILLIONS of people have that they cannot accept a fellow human being just based on their sexual preference.

Hate begets hate though, so I don't know how to deal with my anger about this stuff.

I am embarrassed by myself for relenting that day. Part of me wishes I had verbally destroyed that girl and set about doing the same thing to her mother and father before leaving the house. But I doubt that would've changed anything.

I have no problem hating people for their ignorance when their ignorance causes an entire group of people to be marginalized and hurt both physically and mentally because of it. Ignorance can be forgiven when they are ignorant due to lack of knowledge, but this is an issue that it is very simply to be educated on: gay people are no longer some mythical scary idea, they are out and about on the streets and in the media.

I'd say mentally deficient is harsh.

Still, obviously one group is genuinely malicious and the other is more often than not, not. Denying people simple freedom and liberties versus freedom for all. I think I know which side to choose.

Some people possess a fervor for a noble cause is all. It's a bit like someone who passionately hates murderers; it's just dislike. I don't imagine he'd seek to strip them of their civil rights or anything, same as people who hate murderers don't typically become murderers themselves.

Wild analogy, but there we go. Too big of a deal being made over choice of words. I'm generally more interested in the intent of a person that that.

Nobody ever said that gay people are retarded. I can't speak for extha or what he meant, but people used to think being gay was a mental disorder, not mental retardation. One is an intellectual issue, one is a behavior/emotional issue.
