I mean, he's a normal cat, not like, crazy or super intelligent or anything, but his "brother" has been really sick recently, and is now in the hospital (and probably isn't gonna make it out), and I wonder if my cat has noticed it. Like, is he gonna miss him, or will he just continue on with his life as a cat? He clearly noticed the arrival of our dog, because it was an addition but will he notice when there's a subtraction? And does he notice when I leave? Or when I inevitably move out (again)?
I had two brother cats once, and we had to put one down. The other brother would look for him and eventually went looking for him really far and we never saw him again. I liked that cat.

This is like the most depressing thing I've heard all day.
my cats were siblings, animal control came to take one away and put it down...the sister saw all that go down, so I guess she was able to figure out that he wasn't coming back. I felt really bad for her, the last couple years she was all alone. :(

i never really noticed this with my cats, but there were always so many coming and going that they may not have been given time to notice one was gone.
though i guess maybe the most annoying of the family's cats has gotten more annoying since his sister died, but there's nothing like him looking for her or anything.
