Shizune's 2nd scene is probably the best H-scene in the game. Lilly's are probably somewhat close though. Pretty much everything beats Hanako's though because as you noted, Hanako isn't for sex.

Rin route is hype indeed.

Shizune wound up being my ex in the end, but Rin is already my current girl turned up to 11, and I haven't even started her route yet. I have super high expectations for this route, and I think the game might actually be able to live up to them.

Be prepared to have all notions of how Rin's route will go be completely shattered. In a good way.

Still digesting.

It bugs me that Hisao and Shizune aren't really sticking together after school. Even in high school, for better or for worse, I was always aiming for something more permanent, so "well I'll probably see her again someday I will chase her shadow" is....not that satisfying for me as a resolution for their romance. After all that, I want them to ride off into the sunset together to beat the world into submission and happiness. That is what I would've tried to do in that situation. It may or may not have been a good idea, but what I am trying to say is that "welp school's over guess we're done with this whole dating thing" is kinda a foreign concept to me. Much like sex, zing. While on paper I like the idea of stories with not-necessarily-100%-perfect endings, in actuality it usually bugs me when I get them. They weren't even that great of a couple but dammit they are supposed to be together forever now :\

I think I might've enjoyed "ten years later" kinda epilogues for each route, or something. Well, I don't think I'd actually like it if it had happened, but it's still kinda interesting wondering how things wind up later.

There was not enough Gardad. I wanted to know him better. What made him tick, why he never learned sign, where mom was, whether he was ACTUALLY that big an ass or just joking with me or testing me, what he did for a living, what all was in the bio, how good he was with those swords...all of that.

Also left me wanting more Kenji. He...didn't really add anything to the route other than comic relief and padding, but he was as ridiculously entertaining as always, and we got some pretty tantalizing glimpses of his backstory, too.

I think it's pretty cool how we've gotten two very different but highly inspirational messages in the two routes so far. Also cool that Hisao takes different paths with his life, although I guess they're both kinda open-ended and not really mutually exclusive.

I do still kinda want to learn sign. Currently engaged in pestering my ASL'ing friends for ideas.

For a route where Hisao decides to teach at Yamaku, I feel like there was not nearly enough Mutou. :\

It bugs me a bit that we don't know about Misha exactly, but after Hisao spends the entire game ducking the question of his own issues as thoroughly as possible, I suppose it would make sense to not necessarily get Misha's deal. I don't think Hisao ever went into detail with Shizune, even.

Rin's route is sorta hard to get if you don't know how already. ...I think the best way to describe how to get it would be "don't piss people off, but don't make them like you either" and then you'll just sort of fall into a choice that is very obviously RIN/NOT RIN.

It's up for interpretation, but I think it was heavily implied that they're going to stay together (romantically). It's just that they can't stay together (geographically) because IIRC they don't live anywhere near each other. But Hisao clearly wants to be with Shizune, Misha told Hisao not to make Shizune sad or she'd be angry, and Shizune wasn't acting like they were breaking up or anything either. I really think the "we will meet again" stuff was more referring to Misha than Shizune and Hisao.

That makes sense actually, but I was looking more at the "I'll keep chasing Shizune" line, as it seems more of a "I wanna date her again" kinda outlook.

Hmm, run a medium with everybody? I can try that I suppose. Not entirely sure how I'll go about that with choices like Shizune v. Lilly, but let me flounder for a bit before you jump in. >_>

For all the Lilly/Shizune choices there should be a choice which more or less retains neutrality which should always be open regardless of your choices before. (if you skip the decision point altogether you made the neutral decision)

either one should be fine for that as long as you haven't especially helped either beforehand. Eating on the roof with Emi and Rin instead of in the Student Council room with Shizune and Misha is mandatory I think, but otherwise just don't get yourself on any other paths and you should get the obvious Rin path choice

y'know I might just stick to the Emi path actually. My plan was to do Rin > Emi > Lilly because I was planning on needing something to keep me going after Shizune, but I...don't really. While I have RINHYPE, I am also kinda interested in being drowned in perkiness, and also don't really feel right now like going through act 1 AGAIN. >_> Will think about it.

It's weird. I compared Shizune to my ex once or twice, but the whole "wanting to help but not getting to" kinda theme of the Emi route so far reminds me of the relationship with that ex. Personality's way off, though. It's PROBABLY a sign of good writing that so many of these characters I find so relatable in some fashion?

It's kinda true. They all start out as your standard VN archetypes, but so far they have all developed into really interesting and believable characters.

I am...honestly kinda legitimately scared by that face. Add in the occasional evocation of my past relationship and this route has gone from "d'awwww" to "mildly terrifying" in about two lines, even though the LOGICAL part of my brain is fairly aware that nothing nearly so sinister is going to occur.

Agreed, and this is one of the reasons I absolutely hate a couple of the game's other sex scenes. Overall I think they managed to make them... at least tolerable, though.

Seriously. The issues themselves are way different and there was no buttsecks involved, but at some point this transformed from the Emi route into the Exbolo route. It is freakin' me out. I have had these conversations. I have had these internal monologues. It is freakin' me right the heck out. It is also depressing to me that I had no Nurse or Mutou to dispense timely and sage advice.

I am playing up the Umineko thing a bit but I do honestly wish they would lay off the Emi evilface. It does unsettle me a bit.
