First time I played it, I got so insanely bored and stopped in one of the early chapters. But I'm itching to sink some time into a new game, and I already own this one. I've heard it tends to pick up, but oh gawd.

How early in the game did you drop it? Things do open up near the end of the game but I wouldn't say it's worlds better than most of the start.

The only real positive thing I can say is the battle system becomes really fun to play with when you get deeper into the game. Only thing that kept me interested really, I thought it was the best they've done with the battle system in a long time.

I wanna say Chapter 6 or 7, still pretty early. I just couldn't take walking down a straight line forever. And the combat system confused me >_>

I'd have to pop in the game again to really recall details, but I do remember getting tripped up by the different roles you can switch to.

at that point in the game you still have 2 person teams with limited role options... it's not like later on when you have 3 member parties with way more options
