I am excited. Hopefully they kept the original skill system and all monsters are accessible using just one copy of the game (really doubt the second one though).

that looks like a DQM game alright. previews are gonna tell me more than trailers and screenshots. you could tell me that that was DQMJ2 and I wouldn't argue.
Pretty dang sexy looking, although 4 on 4 is a bit odd. Not necessarily against the idea though, but yeah, it looks less "DQM1 remake" and more "Joker 3 starring Terry."

Yeah, Pokemon's more "adding" and less "changing." Newer generations are a lot snazzier than older, but there aren't big changes that make you feel like you're not playing Pokemon any more. It's like DWM->DWM2 more than DWM1/2->DQMJ.

For me, they feel about the same. DWM1 does have a certain charm 2 lacks a bit, but for me the Magic Keys are cool enough to make 2 my favorite anyway.

I've never been a super grindy, max stats kinda guy, so "OMG INFINITE VARIETY OF WORLDS TO EXPLORE AND ALSO IT'LL HELP ME ROUND OUT MY COLLECTION" is more appealing than any particular level of challenge, and I was never uber enough to steamroll everything anyway.
I feel like it had more to do in post-game than others, too, but I could just be making that up.

well, I get lots of monsters too but it's always building towards something. I never start over with a brand new monster. once I start breeding I go down that path until s/he's perfect.
same with something like FFT - I'll never recruit a level 1 guy or start over in the middle of the game.
I'm just not perfectionist at all about games, which is weird because I do swing that way outside of gaming. I want to make my monsters "cool" but don't need them to be "perfect." I want to catch quite a lot of 'em, not 'em all. Therefore, for me monster hunting is "hey cool a new thing" first and "maybe I can breed it into something cool" second, not "this will help me build this thing."
It could also just be me being lazy and not caring enough to figure out the optimal builds and how to get there. >_> I did get decently far into the higher ends of the ladder a couple of times, but there was never a chance of me maxing my stats or reaching DarkDrium.

oh I'm not like that either. I just like progression.
when progressing is no longer fun or worthwhile, I stop. that stopping point is usually near when stats start maxing out. I've never touched Darkdrium because I've always had a maxed Goldgolem beforehand.
I have no idea what ZHP is but given that you mentioned it in the context of DWM, Disgaea, and possibly procedurally generated stuff, I assume it is my next favorite game
