Oh yes, and I'm thinking up a few new ideas for the next time (sometime in summer I think). First and foremost thought is a spell draft. Setting up would take a long time though, and I couldn't really do a terrain draft because it would be imbalanced in favor of whoever picked the terrain in any given fight.

Second idea is making a randomly stitched together world map out of terrains and having some sort of conquer the wold type contest where you attack people's land. This is needlessly complicated, but it might be fun.

And finally, I could simply make it so that not choosing a spell knocks you out of the tournament straight up, or at least not give you any spell. This is harsh, but it would make people actually stay around.
