It was essentially turned off for what is assumed to be illegal activites, as it happened after one of my roommates had been up all night obtaining television shows to go along with frequent obtaining of movies in the prior months. I love her to death but she wasn't very smart here, especially given how our internet service is set up. It makes school work rather annoying, and typing on a phone isnt as fun. I have fat thumbs I guess.

So have you talked to your ISP (or vice versa)? Or are you simply assuming the reason.

I'm assuming the reason. They can't tell us what is wrong because we aren't authorized for the info. The situation is weird in that the internet service is under the name of somebody who lived here two years ago. The landlord has the bills auto paid by himself and then puts the charge in our rent. He's kind of lazy and we were unmotivated to change the name under the account, so there's nothing we can do until he does something.

So isn't it possible he just didn't pay the bill?

That could be possible, but its an auto pay account, plus we talked to hin about it already and he didnt say anything about it. He just said he would go talk to them about it.

I don't know the situatuon entirely there, but since we are attached to the account in no way, i don't think there is much we can do at the moment. We need to wait for him to clear it up and then go get the account under one of our names.

Not paying just seems like a simpler explanation than them shutting down your pirating roommate.

Maybe he told you it's an automatic set-up but it's not? Maybe he's having money issues and doesn't want to tell you? And since you have no standing in the situation there's nothing you can do anyway so he doesn't have to explain?

That just seems more likely to me.
