Never so much as seen screenshots of either prior to buying.

Which to play first, and why?

Ico. Because it was made first. Both are great. Would have been awesome if they had combined the game into one. Complete a series of puzzles > fight giant boss > repeat. That would be an awesome game.

Depends what type you want

Puzzles = Ico
Bosses = SotC
Short = Ico
Length-ish = SotC

But both are good.

Play ICO first, even though it really doesn't matter which.

SotC. Wouldn't go so far as to call Ico boring but I certainly had a lot more fun with SotC

Why did you enjoy SotC more than ICO? What aspects made ICO less interesting and SotC more?

I found SotC exhilarating at times, just the bosses etc. More fast-paced I guess. Ico was fine but "exhilarating" certainly isn't a word I'd use to describe it.

ICO because it came first and depending on how you'll find it, that will probably tell you if you'll enjoy SotC or not

Alright, I was hoping this thread would go longer than it has so far. Y'all can continue giving opinions after I bump it here, but I'd already been leaning towards ICO before making this thread and Pyro sold me on it (if ICO is "short" (or even "shortish"), then it only makes sense to play it first. Not to mention, it's best to get the slower gameplay out of the way before the action. I love me some puzzle games something fierce, but it's hard to move from a faster-paced action game to a slower puzzle game).

SotC isn't fast or long. It's quite slow between the boss battles (as in... there's nothing do outside the boss battles except find the next boss battle) and it only takes about 8 hours to beat if you're going leisurely.

I don't know how that compares with ICO, because I haven't played it.

I know that probably made SotC sound boring, but it wasn't for me. The boss battles are amazing, but just be aware that that's all it is. Finding a boss, killing a boss, finding a boss, killing a boss, repeat.

SotC is in my top 5 favorite games. I've tried starting ICO around 5 times and always give up a few hours in.
