I think it is hilarious how the conservatives are reacting to the Occupy Wall Street Movement. someone's protesting something in the US what AWFUL PEOPLE

Especially funny that they're cherry picking people to try and show the movement is confused and violent/terrorist. Remember when the media cherry picked crowds and individuals to show that the tea party was racist, ignorant, and violent? the right could not stop complaining about that at the time.

so watching this unfold is golden. it paints a pretty clear picture of how they think: "we're not actually against angry protests and making **** up to make the other side look bad, we're just against it when the other guys are doing it to us."

yeah probably. I remember a lot of the people on the left seizing with glee on the n word stuff, gave them an excuse to dismiss the tea party altogether. luckily for them their limelight happened second and so they don't get the chance to look like dumb hypocrites. I'm actually curious how the left politicians and media would be reacting if the events had happened in reverse order. I'd hope they'd have more self-awareness than the right is displaying but that might be unrealistic.

Nobody takes me seriously because they're scared of what I bring to the table. Smuffin has a lot more patience with you people and he's obviously much better at arguing. I do make the points, though.

though I disagree with him often, I find his arguments to be well thought out and interesting. they are worth thinking through most of the time.

My issue with OWS is that they were organized and founded by ardent anti-capitalists, labor unions, and communists/socialists. Since then, they've deliberate made their goals and demands as unclear as possible, in order to attract as much support as they can. That's why it's easy to be against stuff, but hard to be for it. It's easy to yell "DOWN WITH CORPORATIONS AND THE RICH AND SUCH" but when you start suggesting specific actions the flaws in your ideology become much more pronounced. An anti-corporate anti-banking message has some appeal to some of the libertarians out there and has attracted many to attend some of these rallies.

As far as I can tell, most of them leave pretty disappointed. They go, hoping they'll be able to find common ground on things like opposing the federal reserve, or opposing the wars, or stuff like that. But the overwhelming majority of these people are just the same brainwashed socialists who just want Obama to be re-elected.
