Board 8 > Does anyone here know how to use GIMP well?

I'm trying to do some simple things with it but am having trouble, and the documentation seems to be down right now.

Anybody able to help?

So, I made four crescent moon shapes by using the ellipse selection tool, and I want them to be touching, tip to tip. However, they're all a few pixels apart, and I can't figure out how to select and move just one. I'd also like to crop the image vertically to eliminate whatever space results from me moving them.

I'm by no means an expert, but you could use the magic wand tool to select it, then cut it with ctrl+x or whatever your method is, paste it as a new layer (Just hit ctrl+v it should appear on a new layer), move it with the move tool (looks like a cross arrow thing) and then merge down(right click on the layer, it should be an option).

There might be a better way, I dunno I taught gimp to myself mostly.

If the shapes are on separate layers you can just move them without selecting them by moving the layers.

As for resizing, try canvas size in the image tab, if that doesn't work I don't know how to do it, just mess around with the options you'll find it eventually.
