Maybe it's just because I'm used to it, but I much prefer the triggers on the 360 controller for FPSs than the PS3's weird shoulder buttons.

Other than that, I prefer the 360 controller, but I'd take either really.

shoulder triggers are stupid, but at least ps3 triggers are still wide

What d-pads do you think highly of? The DS3 seems more or less like the other DS d-pads, and the CCP has a pretty solid one as well. The 360 is the only d-pad offender this gen.

There's older controllers I might like the dpads more on. Saturn, maybe Genesis. Can't think of any besides that.

or i could not pay 100 dollars or whatever and still play 2d games like 3d dot game heroes or outland or what have you with a good way to control them

DS3 is the overall best controller for functionality, probably. It's worse in some ways versus the 360, but still comes out ahead.

I'm not 100% sure on the SNES. Both SNES pads I own have mushy d-pads, and I can't tell if they were always like that or if I just have really worn out ones. Bought them on ebay so it's hard to know.

True story! I wish they made a wireless version or the cords were longer, I'd love to use them on my computer. they're quite good controllers but to get use out of them you either have to buy a lot of VC games or mod your Wii.

The Wii did poorly in that poll, so it will do poorly if that poll was re-ran tomorrow. From that poll, I can assume that the favorite controller for most users will also be the system that they are currently playing most often.
