I'm seriously beginning to get annoyed with how little appreciation this series seems to get online. I rarely hear anyone talk about this show, despite the fact it was the funniest new series to premiere last year.
It was created by Greg Garcia, who made My Name Is Earl. Like that show, a lot of the humor comes from the character's charming ignorance. There's also a lot of fun callbacks for people who pay attention to those sort of things. Like MNIE, side characters are rarely forgotten, and tend to pop up for continuity jokes. But the whole series is just plain funny, and the characters are extremely likeable. Even the mother, who in most sitcoms tend to be the "chastising, unfunny one", is hilarious and just as irresponsible as every one else.
I'm not sure if maybe people didn't pay much attention to this show because they thought it looked too much like a bland and cute family sitcom or something, but it really was a surprising treat last year, and a great show. More people need to try it, and I'm going to keep on spreading the word until more people do!
