Yes, it's finally happened, SmartMuffin has his very own blog dedicated to advancing the cause of personal liberty. Now all of my observations on topical issues have a place where they will actually be archived, and much easier to share with the world.
I'll still post a lot of my ideas and thoughts here of course, but I encourage you to drop by every once in awhile to see what's happening in my own little neck of the woods. Obviously this thing is brand new and I have a lot of formatting and style stuff I still need to work on, but hey, gotta start somewhere right?
a. It's not going to be a personal blog b. I have no life and can easily delete any hateful or inappropriate comments c. Board 8 has been one of my primary audiences for all this stuff anyway, so why not?

It's odd how all of the people posting here to declare they don't want to read my blog are the same people who tend to read and discuss my topics on this board!

From: ExThaNemesis | #022 what's wrong with blogs?
They give the author this grand feeling of importance and infallibility that causes some of the mildest mannered people to become complete and total narcissistic dicks. And then those dicks will write about something like they're some authoritative source on the subject when really they know nothing about it. Which is silly since the internet is a vast knowledge database that you can use to educate yourself on a subject rather quickly.
Also I don't get "online diary" blogs. I wouldn't want to make my diary public if I was maintaining one. But it's an innocent enough way to spend your time, and Facebook's pretty popular, so I guess it hold appeal to most people.
I just don't like the uneducated opinions as fact blogs that seem so common. There are good blogs too, though.

Maybe it's just me, but shouldn't TL;DR be posted at the top of the page? If someone really isn't going to read your blog, there's a good chance they won't even bother seeing the TL;DR at the bottom, either, which kinda defeats the purpose of it in the first place.
Are you one of those Republicans who acts as if the party is infallible and won't post when they do negative things in an attempt to create a one sided view of things? As a Republican I hate those kinds of Republicans.

I think by this point it's safe to call me a RINO, except on the other side of things. I'm more of a libertarian who is registered as a Republican solely to vote for Ron Paul.

I agree with Peter Schiff on decreasing regulations. The financial industry is so regulated it resembles a government-run oligopoly controlled by the largest banks and regulators, and makes things more expensive for everyone. Every dollar spent regulating is a dollar spent rearranging money to different people, which would be a 100% loss to the country, or worse, a dollar spent enforcing an oligopoly (more than 100% loss).
Deregulate. Give people more choice. I bet a lot of people wouldn't invest their money with big Wall Street banks if they had other viable options. Nor would you get nearly as much groupthink if you don't have a few people making all the decisions, and without groupthink, we're much less likely to have a major financial bubble and collapse.
