Wow, that was pretty awesome. It stayed so true to the games, it was fantastic. I loved the way the puzzles were integrated in a way that made sense in a plot, and how they were presented so that viewers could solve them along with the characters.
Random thoughts:
- I didn't know who Emmy was (she's a character from the next game, right?), but I guess this was a good first impression. Beating up an entire wolf pack was pretty awesome, but you do NOT kick a guy in the crotch, come on!
- This was also my first impression of Inspector Grosky. I liked Chelmey better, but I have to admit, that guy's chest hair is impressive.
- As usual the plot twist was beyond ridiculous. It wouldn't be Layton if it wasn't. It's not as improbable as Unwound Future's, but it's even more bizarre than Diabolical Box's. I'm not entirely sure how the "real" answer was any less sane than what everybody thought was happening.
- Layton was pretty awesome in this one (swordfight with a pipe! Even better than the duel in Diabolical Box), although Luke gets the most awesome scene in the movie when he scales the giant robot.
- Speaking of which, "Future British Gentleman - Luke's Theme" is one of the best songs ever. The entire soundtrack was amazing, and I loved hearing the music from the games pop up, but that song made an epic scene even greater.
- I solved all the puzzles except for the "King's Chamber" one. To be fair, they don't really give you a lot of time with that. Maybe I should have kept a scratchpad.
