I was thinking it might be cool to set maybe a day a week where we all plan on meeting up. it's easier to get people together if you plan for meet ups in advance, might be more successful than someone coming in the topic and asking if anyone is up to play. Is this something you guys would be interested in? I'm free most afternoons and evenings, so I'm pretty flexible.

we're mostly equivalent except you apparently right click at about 5x the rate that I do and "select group hotkey" at about 15x the rate. sounds believable on my end at least, my hotkey use is pretty limited.

the firelord game was at a more reasonable 82 though, maybe because it ended quick and there's not much to do at the beginning

Oh wow. So I was reading that War 3 ladder is full of hackers on a few message boards, and on a hunch checked out two games I played today on ladder (I always save my ladder losses so I can watch and learn stuff). One was clean and felt like the other guy was just better than me, I never suspected anything fishy on that one.

One against a human however, he clicked on my buildings more than once when he should have had fog of war there, and clicked my alter to check my hero choice. Later, having never scouted, went directly to my base on a 4 starting position map after I TPed out and killed my hero and started a tower rush. He never saw any of my base or saw my starting location until he waltzed directly there with his army and towers. Watching the replay, the cheating is so blatant I'm surprised I didn't suspect anything during the game. Makes me wish I could take my gg back!

Yeah from the sound of things these guys are all over the place on B.net. Wish I had kept that replay from the time the guy destroyed me with only three heroes, that felt pretty fishy at the time.

some day I will win a SC2 ladder game

and that day was today. won with Terran, made nothing but Marines, beat a slightly favored Zerg. not exactly an awe-inspiring win but I'll take it.

mass marines is actually incredibly strong if you also get combat shields and stim

sure, things like colossi, psi storm, and the infestor's ability that I forget can all wipe marines because of the AoE damage and stuff, but marines are cheap as hell and can get a lot of damage done

If you can work out a solid marine timing push, it's enough to get you out of Bronze easily with no other work necessary. It doesn't really help you prepare for higher levels of the game, but getting those upgrades, marine DPS is fantastic if you can get a solid mass of them, and bronzies aren't likely to have many if any at all high tier units to deal with them. Also it helps that marines come out so early that if you're already focused on making rines, you can handle pretty much any cheese as long as you're aware of what is going on around you.

fungal growth, that's what it's called!

Dume, going mass rines would definitely allow you to work on your rine micro, which can be important at higher levels

though you will have fewer marines, knowing how to split and such is good!


oh, banelings too - if your opponent is going mass baneling, then learn how to stutter step and split

The point is that while working on a timing push and learning all the mechanics and everything is definitely good enough to beat most scrubs, when you get to higher levels, everyone will be able to counter a pure rine push with ease. That's what I meant about not preparing you for higher levels, because at some point, it stops being a viable build. Except for the occasional SCV all-in.
