I picked up StarCraft 2 a couple weeks ago but still haven't touched it. Debating replaying StarCraft 1 before I go into 2. Also debating buying some Civ V DLC.
AoE:O looks kinda neat. Love the art style.

it does look like the best civ so far. the denmark/explorers map pack looks cool too but I'm gonna hold on more Civs until there's a steam sale. Civ V is getting discounted everywhere lately -- amazon, greenmangaming, hmv. there's gotta be a Civ V midweek madness coming up.

I didn't every play 1 but enjoyed the campaign on 2. I haven't played much online since it seems very timing and memorization specific (very specific build orders and sets) but the campaign at least was good!
I really enjoy the Civ games, but I haven't played them much lately because I got the itch to play Rome: Total War again. It's one of those games I keep going back to over the years.

Learning build orders and timings is one of the last things you do if you want to learn properly, actually. There's tons of other things that you need to get good at first before they matter at all.

I'm talking about in comparison to Warcraft 3, where there is much less emphasis on economy or build orders.
Did anyone here preorder Achron and know if it's worth it? I mean, TIME HAX sounds interesting, but it also sounds like something you could easily screw up.

I looked at AoEO, but ugh pay stuff. I know the game is free, but the premium content? Seems like it's giving a big advantage to people who pay over those who just play free. They try to justify it by saying that if you buy premium stuff you don't get it instantly and that you still have to earn it in game. Really though, I think that's just as bad. Sure we all have to earn our new techs, but if the techs someone else is earning are better then there is still an imbalance.
Sure it will still probably be fun, but it kinda turns me off.
I played through the SC2 campaign but didn't play online more than the placement matches. I am not so good either! Might be interested if you guys ever put together games.
I'm actually really interested in getting Shogun as soon as I have a PC that can play it. Total War's crippling weakness has always been its backwards difficulty curve that made endgames a huge chore and it looks like Shogun finally fixed that. I think Total War is one series that could actually benefit a lot from having shorter scenarios or even a plot-based campaign. That way the game could present unique battle scenarios that increase in difficulty instead of having a succession of rather easy battles which are all the same.

lol Idra at smashing his keyboard/headphones against TriMaster
One of these days, Idra will stop choking and stop losing when he has crushing leads to absolutely stupid newb mistakes (god damn, charging mutas into upgraded marines, wtf). Fortunately, until then, we can expect lotsa RAEG.

i have rome total war, but it does not work with my windows 7. very disappointing :(
the xp computer i played it on was fairly meh, and i was looking forward to giving it a go on something better.
*sighs*
lack the monies to get newer total war games, and have kinda been starved for good strategy as of late. flash games and the like can only stretch so far >_<

There is no shame in not knowing; the shame lies in not finding out
Hm any suggestions for AC play constraints? I'll probably try to finish the game on transcend first though (oh god) but past the early mid game it's usually boring against the AI because I've de facto won.

Eh? You Serious? Easy Mode? How Disgusting! Only Elementary School Kids should play on Easy Mode.
